With the fall season starting here in New York, we wanted to reach out and share the open call for our 2020 Foundwork Artist Prize, an annual juried award to recognize outstanding practice by contemporary artists. The Prize is open to artists internationally with limited exceptions and artwork in any media will be considered. The submission deadline is coming up on October 15.
The 2020 honoree will receive an unrestricted USD 10,000 grant and studio visits with each of the distinguished jurors whom we are glad to introduce below. The honoree and three short-listed artists will also be featured in interviews as part of the Foundwork Dialogues program for further engagement around their work.
Our jury for the 2020 Foundwork Artist Prize includes progressive curators, gallerists, and artists based in Berlin, Omaha, Los Angeles, Tulsa, and Mexico City. Whether curating institutional exhibitions, directing innovative galleries, or making critically acclaimed work themselves, each juror brings significant experience and we extend our gratitude to these exceptional practitioners:
Natasha Ginwala, Associate Curator, Gropius Bau, Berlin; Artistic Director, 13th Gwangju Biennale
Anat Ebgi, Founder and Director, Anat Ebgi Gallery, Los Angeles
Kalup Linzy, Performance and Video Artist; 2020 Tulsa Artist Fellow; former Guggenheim Fellow
Humberto Moro, Deputy Director and Senior Curator, Museo Tamayo, Mexico City; Curator, EXPO Chicago; Adjunct Curator, SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah
Rachel Adams, Chief Curator and Director of Programs, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha
Michael Ruiz, Founder and Managing Director, Future Gallery, Berlin and Mexico City
Artists, please note that in order to be considered for the 2020 Prize, you will need to sign up and create a profile on Foundwork, with at least 5 published artworks, by 5:00 pm ET, October 15, 2020. Please see our FAQ for detailed instructions and terms on how to participate, and send any other questions to support@foundwork.art.
For those who aren’t familiar, Foundwork is a platform for artists to introduce their work to people across the contemporary art community. Our purpose is to enable access between artists, curators, and collaborators wherever they are based.
Thanks for your interest. We look forward to honoring a new group of artists this fall.
