Stephanie Jung is an artist and photographer from Shifferstadt, a small town in Southwest Germany. Her passion in traveling to various places around the globe has produced an evocative body of work which borders on the fine edge between photography and painting.
Using multiple exposures, which Jung employs so effectively and with such immaculate control, the cityscapes she depicts are rendered with a paint brush-like effect across the page. Lights, buildings, cars, electrical lines and myriad colors take on a vibrating texture, cascading rhythmically as in a waterfall across the canvas. This multiplicity enhances the three- dimensional quality of an otherwise two- dimensional medium, and whether this strategy is inspired from past masterworks of American photographer Ray K. Metzker in the 1950s, I cannot be certain.
