For a second year running, ArtAsiaPacific hosted a series of Guerrilla Talks live from the booth at Art HK in late May. Joining us in short, casual conversation, were over 30 artists, curators, collectors, museum directors, archivists and architects, offering a window into the diverse practices and interests that intersect nowadays. Our third guest on opening day, Beijing-based artist and curator Liu Ding, accompanied by his wife and collaborator, critic Carol Yinghua Lu, spoke about his installation and ongoing web project Liu Ding Store (2008– ), which Liu presented at the 2009 Venice Biennale, as well as the extension of his artistic practice into curatorship. Most recently, Liu and Lu, along with young Beijing-based critic Su Wei, co-curated the seventh Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale, titled “Accidental Message: Art is Not a System, Not a World,” which runs through to August 31.
